The Gift of Experience: The DCAC Experience Auction Wants You

The DCAC Experience Auction upends the cliché of the art auction. Here, there are no objects to bid on. Instead, experience itself is on the auction block. Winning bidders collaborate, participate, and create a one-of-a-kind artistic experience for themselves. Participants at the live auction event eat and drink, enjoy live performances, and witness the spectacle of a live and action-packed auction.

What makes an experience? We think it is a combination of a setting and a passion. The donors who grace the Experience Auction with their experiences have been a varied lot: curators, performers, inventors, and psychics have all contributed their expertise. Winning bidders get the singular delight of your time, energy and talent.

The Experience Auction celebrates the ineffable alchemy of creativity in its purest essence — as interaction and transformation. Experience lives on in the minds of the people who participate in making it come to life.

The Experience Auction was created in 2011 as a fund-raiser for the D.C. Arts Center. Located in the heart of Adams-Morgan, DCAC has been a home to emerging artists, poets, and performers for 30 years.

The Experience Auction is a just on example of what we do at DCAC — cracking open the accepted commonplaces of the theater and the gallery, to reignite with fresh vigor the experience of live art. The Auction brings out business leaders, art collectors and other patrons, all vying to outbid one another for these truly one-of-a-kind items. It is something we are certain you will not want to miss.

Think about that thing for which you have a passion. Share it by creating an experience for the 2019 Experience Auction. What’s the concept?
